Rosanna Maryam Sirignano

Ph.D in Islamic Studies from Heidelberg University (Germany), within the Transcultural Studies program (GPTS-8) under the Cluster of Excellence “Asia and Europe”, where I also worked as a research assistant.

I am a teaching associate in Arabic Language and Literature at the University of Florence. In 2019, I founded MaryamEd, the first Italian digital education project dedicated to the Arab-Islamic world.
I provide courses and training across Italy on Arabic language, Arab culture, and Islamic studies, focusing on personal development topics such as time management, leadership, and study methods.

At the University of Padua, I completed training for Islamic religious leaders and participated as a religious and intercultural operator in the PrimEd project, recognized by the Italian Ministry of Education (MIUR).
I also completed a Leadership Development Program with the Caribbean Muslim Network, the International Institute of Islamic Thought, and Riphah International University, enhancing my skills in coaching, mentoring, time management, emotional intelligence, and conflict management.

I am deeply committed to interfaith dialogue.
I am a member of the International Marian Muslim-Christian Commission, created within the Pontifical International Marian Academy (PAMI), and I contributed to the first two editions of the Muslim-Christian Summer School organized by the National Office for Ecumenism and Interreligious Dialogue (UNEDI).

I collaborate with various organizations engaged in cultural and social transformation in Italy, promoting dialogue, inclusion, and mutual understanding.
After spending four years in Germany teaching Modern Standard Arabic to children and volunteering with young refugees, I now live in Avellino.

As an expert in language teaching, I obtained the DITALS Level II certification in 2013 for teaching Italian as a second language (L2).
I hold a Master’s degree in Arab-Islamic and Mediterranean Studies from the University of Naples “L’Orientale”, with a specialization in Arabic dialectology.
My academic path has taken me to Germany, the United Kingdom, Tunisia, Palestine, and Syria — where in 2010, I embraced Islam.

My teaching approach combines academic knowledge with personal experience and a deep, attentive observation of the cultural realities around me.

I am the author of the blog and book “La mia Siria”, the book “Il velo dentro”, and several academic and popular articles.

Alongside my academic work, I cultivate my passion for dance.
I believe that caring for the body nurtures an open and receptive mind.
I am a nationally awarded dancer in Middle Eastern and Arabic folk dances.
